Privacy policy
Your inspection records stay on your device. DentProof does not automatically upload your vehicle photos, notes, or location to Northbound Studios. You choose when and where to export a report.
DentProof is a vehicle-condition documentation app provided by Chase Trembly under Northbound Studios. This policy describes the app’s handling of information and the separate information you may choose to provide when contacting us.
Information stored in the app
DentProof stores vehicle or session labels, inspection types, photos, damage flags, notes, timestamps, and optional device-location coordinates and accuracy information in its local app storage. It also creates photo identifiers and SHA-256 hashes to help identify saved images. These records support before-and-after comparisons and report creation. The app does not require an account or send these inspection records to a developer-operated server.
Camera, photos, and location permissions
- Camera: used to photograph a vehicle and visible damage.
- Photo library: where the photo-picker fallback is available, used to select an image for an inspection.
- Location: with your permission, used to attach a best-effort device location to a photo record. Location is optional; a photo can be saved when permission is denied or a location is unavailable. DentProof does not request background location access.
You can change permissions in your iPhone’s Settings. Turning off location permission stops future permitted location access; it does not remove coordinates already saved in existing records or exported reports.
Exports and sharing
DentProof generates PDF reports locally. Reports may contain your photos, labels, notes, timestamps, location coordinates, and image hashes. Review a report before sharing it. You choose its destination through Apple’s system share sheet. A recipient or service you select may retain the report under its own privacy practices. Northbound Studios does not automatically receive a copy and cannot recall reports you have shared.
Advertising, tracking, and analytics
This version of DentProof contains no advertisements, cross-app tracking, third-party analytics SDKs, or developer-operated cloud storage. We do not sell your inspection records or use them for targeted advertising. Apple’s App Store, TestFlight, diagnostics, and device services operate under Apple’s privacy practices. Apple may make beta feedback, crash information, or aggregate app statistics available to developers through its tools.
Storage, backups, and deletion
Inspection records remain in the app’s local storage until you delete them or delete the app. Use the record’s deletion control to remove its saved sessions and associated photos. Deleting the app removes its local app container; offloading the app may preserve its data.
Device or computer backups may contain app data, depending on your Apple settings. Deleting a record does not remove previously exported reports, recipient copies, or existing backups. Manage those separately through the relevant destination or backup settings. Because we do not hold a server copy of your inspections, we cannot recover or remotely delete them for you.
Security
DentProof uses the iOS app sandbox and iOS file-protection options for saved inspection records and photos. Protect your device with a passcode and keep its software updated. No storage method is guaranteed to be secure, and exported copies are subject to the protections of their destination.
Privacy questions and support
Contact Chase Trembly, Northbound Studios, through Instagram @da1ct with “DentProof privacy” in your message. Do not send sensitive vehicle records unless needed for your request.
If you contact us, we receive the profile or contact information, message, and attachments you choose to send. We use them to respond, troubleshoot, and handle privacy requests; access is limited to what is needed for those purposes. We retain support correspondence only as long as needed to resolve the request and meet applicable obligations. You can request deletion through the same contact channel. Instagram handles messages under its own privacy policy.
Children
DentProof is a general-audience vehicle utility and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly solicit personal information from children. Contact us if you believe a child has sent personal information to us.
This policy page
This page contains no forms, advertising scripts, analytics scripts, or embedded social-media widgets. The hosting provider may process technical request information, such as IP address and browser details, to deliver and secure the page. Visiting an external link is subject to the destination’s privacy practices.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page and its effective date when DentProof’s privacy practices change. New features that change how information is handled will be reflected in the policy and relevant permission prompts.
